Philip is an innovator and an artist. His extraordinary projects have helped facilitate a more democratic and accessible world.
He treats each project as an adventure and believes that leaders should try to make large-scale (societal) change happen and not just comment on it. Today Philip is Chairman of Letts Group.

The Web’s Currency™
Letts created one of the first digital currencies, called Beenz, in the late 1990’s. It was adopted by over 6 million people around the world. Beenz opened up access to cash for the least advantaged and allowed people to earn money for simple online activities such as clicking links and ads and filling out forms.
International Barter
Philip developed a digital barter network for tens of thousands of small businesses in North America, South America and Europe. It enabled the trading of goods and services without the use of cash, avoiding bureaucratic constraints. Small traders welcomed the approach as it helped them to improve their cash flow, widen their customer base and reduce costs.

A First Smartphone Interface
In the early 2000’s Philip developed one of the first smartphone web interfaces adopted by many of the world’s largest telecom companies. It helped enable the mobile Internet and facilitate web access for the masses.
Global Artists Network
In 2007 Letts created a global artist network to loosen the stranglehold of large commercial galleries and agents while opening up the ‘commissioning’ market. Over 50,000 artists and creatives joined the online co-operative.

Open-air Art Reimagined
In 2019 Philip opened an innovative open-air gallery and environmental art centre called Devon Sculpture Park. It is the first wildlife and sculpture park.
Natural Climate Solutions
In 2005 Philip started researching and developing a range of solutions to the climate crisis. Today Letts Environment has a number of climate projects under way.
Philip has built the UK’s leading centre for smaller-scale rewilding. He is also working on a number of other eco innovations including a man-made wood structure that houses hundreds of different species of wildlife. This wildife biodome could help in the fight against biodiversity loss.
